anyway, i was at a designing class last sunday, and omg... it was by far THE best experience i ever had in my life. we had thomas wee to teach us, i couldn't ask for anyone better. gosh! thomas wee, one of singapore's most famous and respected designer of all time! the class was mostly about the competition, like he gave us tips on what to do and what not to do in designing a bridal gown and how to go about designing and sewing something for a mannequin so small, you get all worked up trying to get small patches of fabrics together. and he actually taught us how to sew those long full heavy skirts. it was so delightful for me to get all these necessary tips for i'm not a design student. interesting to see the design students around me taking down notes too. like, don't they learn all this in school? hmm... after the whole thing, a couple of us came up to him to like you know ask questions and stuff... and we had a 2 hour long one on one conversation with thomas by the singapore river (haha!) learning about his experiences as a successful designer and other stuff on the fashion industry. it was the best time i ever had talking one to one with him getting first hand insights on the fashion world. i will never forget every single thing he said. and it felt great to you know be able to chat with people who share the same dream, passion and interest as you. like for example, a football maniac meeting another football maniac, what would they talk about? right! football of course! they can talk about every single damn thing that has got to do with football for hours, no interruptions. and i never knew how it felt like cos none of my friends have that same fire burning in them, till i met these fashionistas. i felt so content after the chat session. thomas made me see fashion designing in a totally different light. going to a fashion designing school doesn't mean you will become a fashion designer and well there's a reason why the fashion designing course in tp is named as apparel designing AND merchandising. that summarise it all. this is like a dream come true. i would have never imagined myself talking face to face with a well known designer. i thank God loads for granting me this opportunity. wow.
but that class came with a price. no i didn't have to pay anything. but i was made to realise A LOT of mistakes in my design and sewing. i was kinda pissed at first cos it's nearly done but come to think of it, it is all to my advantage. back then, i decided to only give it a try and didn't bother much, but now, i really really wanna win this thing. i gotta restart all over from scratch, coming up with a new design, getting a theme for it and gotta be very particular about the sewing and the little details. and i have less than 2 weeks to get it done. all this rush in the midst of getting my O's result. not too early to say life's sure gonna be hectic these two weeks. but for now, time to turn in =) morning y'all!
