[11:57 AM]

the past 2 days have not been as productive as i thought it should be. im still as unprepared for promos as ever. sigh. im disturbed by the fact that i screwed up my GP. it was a major screw up. the worse GP paper i have ever done. im expecting an E for that, no kidding. sigh. i know what's done is done but i can't just forget it and shove it to the back of my mind. worse still due to the nature of the subjectivity of the paper i'm confused of who to be blamed. could it be my fault for lacking general knowledge? could it be the teachers fault for setting such a &%#*h%$ paper? oh well. let's just try to forget it and focus on the major ones, the ones for the A level. but it's just annoying to keep getting the lowest grade in class for GP. passing is not enough, not when ur in my class where everyone speaks English like it's their MT. but then again GP doesn't test ur proficiency in English Language. well to a certain extent it does but not as much as English in secondary school cos of the content (GK) factor. bleargh~

i hate villanelles! i keep saying that to Mrs Tan and my friends and they keep telling me it's just a form of poetry. well that's exactly my point! it's the form that annoys the heck outta me! it seems nonsensical to me! i will give you a sample of a villanelle (an exceptionally weird one so as to emphasise on my point heh) and see if you find it nonsensical or not.

Naming of Parts

Today we have naming of parts. Yesterday
We had daily cleaning. And tomorrow morning
We shall have what to do after firing. But today,
Today we have naming of parts. Japonica
Glistens like coral in all of the neighbouring gardens,
And today we have naming of parts.

This is the lower sling swivel. And this
Is the upper sling swivel, whose use you will see,
When you are given your slings. And this is the piling swivel,
Which in your case your have not got. The branches
Hold in the gardens their silent, eloquent gestures,
Which in our case we have not got.

This is the safety-catch, which is always released,
With an easy flick of the thumb. And please do not let me
See anyone using his finger. You can do it quite easy,
If you have any strength in your thumb. The blossoms
Are fragile and motionless, never letting anyone see
Any of them using their finger.

And this you can see is the bolt. The purpose of this
Is to open the breech, as you can see. We can slide it
Rapidly backwars and forwards: we call this
Easing the spring. And rapidly backwards and forwards
The early bees are assaulting and fumbling the flowers.
They call it easing the Spring.

They call it easing the Spring: it is perfectly easy,
If you have any strength in your thumb: like the bolt
And the breech, and the cocking-piece, and the point of balance
Which in our case we have not got: and the almond-blossom
Silent in all of the gardens and the bees going backwards and forwards
For today we have naming of parts.

Henry Reed (1914-1986)

woooh~ a particularly interesting poem indeed. there's a lot to be said about repetition and the contrast between nature and parts. and this poem has interesting sounds to it. very catchy almost like a nursery rhyme. but i still don't get the meaning of this poem. it sounds like someone, an expert, teaching someone else or a group of people how to go about doing things. full of instructions. a talking manual. yet the attitude is easy. fun loving education. nah im not gonna think about it any further. i love this other poem. it's a villanelle as well but a shorter and simpler one.

Cross

My old man's a white old man
And my old mother's black.
If ever I cursed my white old man
I take my curses back.

If ever I cursed my black old mother
And wished she were in hell,
I'm sorry for that evil wish
And now I wish her well.

My old man died in a fine big house.
My ma died in a shack.
I wonder where I'm gonna die,
Being neither white not black?

Langston Hughes (1902-1967)

TTSH replied my email regarding our proposal to do CIP at their place. like finally, after three weeks or so. tsk. i'm gonna have to go down and meet up with the one in charge to discuss the finer details. i don't see the need for all this though. but seeing how busy TTSH is with dengue and all maybe there is indeed a need to settle things properly. so gonna meet him right after my last paper, which is Lit btw, on Thursday at 5.30pm. our paper ends at 4. and it's the last paper! thinking of celebrating with my dear friends of smth. have to scrap the idea :( hahaha... but hopefully we can secure this CIP with them. i'm tired of ringing organisations after organisations and being ignored just because im a student (and maybe because we are a bunch of dancers as well). pffffttt! if this one fails, no more organisations. im going straight to the Singapore Dance Theatre and see if they need help in any way possible. that's CIP as well! and who knows if they can give us free tuition on certain dance techniques. lol. that's our teacher's idea btw, not ours heh.

and you have no idea how proud i was when i saw Navras being done for the opening of Anugerah last night! that's our freaking SYF number! Zaki is just fantabulous. BUT... our president Nathan was there. and he was there at the BP Mentoring as well. and Navras was done for the opening of both occasion. so that means he's seen Navras twice. hahah i wonder what he might be thinking. but the blockings were different, dancers were different (not SA dancers), costume was different as well (black instead of our maroon)... they definitely looked different. i wonder if he's seen the original full-length Navras... the marvelous piece we can never get enough of...

went to get the doll i sent in for the bridalwear design competition last february. yep after so long. i knew i lost like almost immediately after seeing the other entries. (the winning entry is like how grogeous!!!) but my entry still made it to the exhibition at Singapore History Museum and Changi Airport Arrival Hall. first time having my design exhibited okay! so proud of myself. heh. despite losing. i mean cummon... it was against students from Nafa and La Salle who am i to compete against them. but i still did and honestly, after not seeing my entry for almost 8 months, i still think my design is gorgeous. handsewn beads on a bridal gown now beat that! hahaha... but my design is a little taboo for a wedding gown i suppose. cleavage spilling all over like what was i thinking! hahha... but barbie is a slut anyway. i still love the hair ala audrey hepburn (though it doesn't look as good anymore). spent 5 hours on it! haha. okay enough of praising myself lol.

i hereby declare that ATALIA CHUA and NASEEM FATHIMA of CG 05A11 of ST. ANDREWS JC are mad and hence deserve a bed each in the INSTITUTE of MENTAL HEALTH. they get turned on by the idea of sneaking into the science labs before assembly and opening the windows (like the lab attendants always do) and waving down at the students during assembly. of all things for goodness sakes! (btw IMH didn't return my call about our CIP!!!) LATEST NEWS! Atalia Chua: "Musa, guess what we found out. this is tragic news. the windows can be seen from outside. so i think the JC2s saw us. this is bad moose. i looked like a fool cos i was trying to open the window. ohh no..." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! FOOLS YES INDEED!
